How to Get a Paramedic License

The EMT test for Paramedics is composed of a cognitive and psychomotor exam. The cognitive exam is a computer adaptive test (CAT) with around 80 – 150 items. You will be given a max time of 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the exam.

This part of the EMT test will include topics such as airway, ventilation, oxygenation, trauma, medical, cardiology, and EMS operations. Around 85% of the times are related to adult patients care while the rest will focus on pediatric patients care. You need to meet a standard level of competency in order to pass.

On the other hand, the psychomotor section of the exam is made up of 12 different skills in a scenario format to evaluate your ability to operate outside of the hospital. It will evaluate your skills and proficiency on: patient assessment-trauma, ventilatory management, cardiac management skills, IV and medication skills, oral station, pediatric skills, and random basic skills.

EMT Exams Take a practice EMT test

The Internet does not only offer paramedic training and EMT courses, it only offers EMT practice tests to help you obtain your license. These come in quizzes that follow the same format as the actual NREMT. After clicking on 'next', you can't go back to the question.

Do not expect to find the same questions on the practice test and the real test. It is not legal to post answers to real EMT questions therefore memorization is not key here. If you want to obtain your license, you have to study and understand important paramedic topics. Take 2 to 6 weeks to study the EMT practice questions so you will be at ease with the format.
